Meet Nancy

Nancy Herbert, professional coach
Coaching certification obtained from the Coach Training Alliance

I’m Nancy Herbert, a professional coach and trusted thinking partner for leaders and professionals in complex, high-stakes environments.

If you’re leading in a high-responsibility environment—cybersecurity, government, tech, operations—you don’t need more noise.

You need clear thinking.
Strong decisions.
Better conversations.
And a steady way to move forward that doesn’t require you to burn yourself (or your team) into the ground.

That’s what I’m here for.

Why Clients Trust Me

I’m not guessing what leadership pressure feels like.

I retired from the USDA as an Information System Security Program Manager, supporting approximately 114,000 end users. I’ve also spent 20+ years mentoring, managing, and developing professionals—helping people step into new roles, take on bigger leadership responsibilities, and handle the human side of high-performance work.

In fact, my favorite part of leadership work has always been developing people: helping professionals grow into bigger roles, handle hard conversations, and lead with clarity.

That’s what I do now—through coaching.

I’m a certified coach through Coach Training Alliance, and I blend coaching with real-world perspective, because sometimes you don’t need another abstract question—you need a clear way through.

If you want someone who understands complex environments quickly and helps you move with focus and integrity, you’re in the right place.

What I Do

I’m a coach and thinking partner.

That means we’re not here to simply talk in circles, collect insights, and call it progress.

We’re here to:

Clarify what's happening and what's driving it

Make a decision to embrace a proactive choice

Strengthen how you lead others (and yourself)

Engage in conversations with greater assurance

Build momentum you can sustain

Who I Help

Most of my clients are smart, capable professionals who are used to being the one others rely on. These folks often come from cybersecurity and other tech-heavy environments where the pressure is real and the expectations don’t take days off.

This might be you if:

  • You’re stuck in the swirl—too much input, not enough clarity.

  • You’re making decisions with real consequences and you want to feel steady in them.

  • You’re navigating leadership challenges: conflict, performance issues, communication, influence, etc.

  • You’re moving into a new level of responsibility and you want to lead it well.

  • You’re tired of carrying everything alone and you want a discreet, high-trust space to think.

If you’re looking for hype or vague inspiration, I’m not your coach.

If you want grounded clarity and forward motion, we should talk.

What We Work On

Every client is different, but these themes show up often in my client work:

  • Leadership decision-making under pressure

  • Executive presence and influence

  • Managing and developing high-performing teams

  • Performance issues and accountability conversations

  • Communication that lands (especially when the stakes are high)

  • Boundaries, workload, and sustainable performance

  • Career transitions: a new role, promotion readiness, “what’s next”

  • Confidence and clarity when responsibility is heavy

  • Setting limits to maintain personal and professional life.

The Values Underneath The Work

These show up in how I coach and how I operate:

INTEGRITY

Honest conversations, clear expectations, no games

SUSTAINABILITY

Growth that doesn't require burnout

RESPECT

Of your time, your intelligence, and the weight you’re carrying

TRUST

Through honest communication about processes and goals

RESPONSIBILITY

We focus on what you can control and what you can change

CONFIDENTIALITY

Upholding clients' privacy to create a safe space for open discussion.

Work With Me

If you’re curious about working together, the next step is a free consultation.

Here’s how it works:

1

You share what challenges you’re facing and what you want to change.

2

I ask a few targeted questions so we can get to the real issue quickly.

3

If we’re a fit, I recommend the best next step and the right package. If we’re not, I’ll tell you that honestly.
